Haunted

02.09.2012

When I am awake

When I am dreaming

Within silent, unbearable lands

I can feel you

I see your features

Your smile

Your lips

Your tongue

Your cheeks

And those eyes

Your head tilted slightly

Wondering why I can't let you go

Maybe its you

Maybe you are visiting me

And maybe your beauty escapes unto the world

And finds cover in others

In store clerks who give their hair a shake

In the glancing looks of commuters on the train

They turn and look over their shoulders

Smiling

I don't know them

Do I know you?

I know only your features

Maybe it's you

Maybe you are holding on to me

Maybe in stores

And on trains

Walking in shopping malls

You look over your shoulder

Hoping

You can pass

Unto me

That

Which from your hands you would so violently yield

If not for the forbearance and sweetness in your heart

To which we have become bound

All the unsaid words

Of a stillborn love

Sweetheart

My debt is paid

I have kept my promise

Please let me go
